Jose "Cha Cha" Jimenez, co-founder of the Young Lords Organization, is an aging civil rights revolutionary being visited by voices from his past as he recounts key moments in his life with the help of his best friend, Billy "Che" Brooks. The play reconnects the audience with the birth of the Young Lords as a gang in 1960's Chicago to a groundbreaking and radical political organization helping reshape the politics of the city. Through the eyes of Cha Cha and Che, we're able to look at historical events that shaped not only the city of Chicago but future generations of social activists. The characters are an amalgamation of key individuals in Cha Cha and Che's life, they guide not only the protagonists but the audience as well to rediscover forgotten American history of Puerto Ricans in Chicago.
